Description
Orthetrum testaceum, commonly known as Orange Skimmer is a species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae. Its hindwings may measure up between 36-40 mm. One of the largest of the red dragonflies.As in all Orthetrum, the distal antenodal is complete and can be separated from the large Lyriothemis by lack of metallic colour on its head, and many structural and venational details. The female is brown with obscure dark markings. Orange Skimmer is commonly found in open and disturbed habitats including drains, ponds and gardens with an altitude up to 1500 m above sea level. It is widespread in tropical Asia (Orr, 2005).
