Characteristics
A low growing, understory plant which has short fleshy rhizomes dark purple in colour, tuberous roots, leaves erect or apprised to the soil and inconspicuous flowers usually white with violet labellum
Uses
The rhizomes of Kaempferia parviflora (KP) (Zingiberaceae) have been used in Thai traditional medicine for health promotion and for the treatment of digestive disorders and gastric ulcer.
Distribution
K. parviflora is a medicinal plant that can be found in tropical areas such as Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo Island, and Thailand
