Description

Orthetrum luzonicum (Marsh Skimmer) is a species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae. Its hindwing may measure up to 32 mm with clear base. The length of its abdomen to anal appendage can reach about 29-30 mm long. Generally, Marsh skimmer has a smaller size than O. glaucum. The abdomen is narrow and has a similar ratio length from the hindwing to the abdomen. The mature specimens are completely blue in appearance. This dragonfly is commonly found on marshes and ponds at the altitude up to 100-2,000 m above sea level. Breed in running water and is widespread in tropical Asia (Orr, 2005).
