Description

Acisoma panorpoides (Asian Pintail) is a species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae. Its hindwing may measure up to 22 mm for male. It has azure-blue marbled with black marked abdomen. While the female’s hindwing may measure up to 24 mm with similar pattern and abdomen to male but more greenish in color. This species is always unmistakable by virtue of unique shape of its abdomen. Its larva is robust and lives amongst shallow vegetation. Widespread and common in tropical Asia and Africa (Orr, 2005).
